Chiropractic Care of Neck Pain

When you visit to a chiropractor he will examine you to locate the source your pain and will question you about your current symptoms and remedies you have already tried.

Your chiropractor will examine you both trough physical and neurological methods. While
examining you physically your chiropractor will observe your posture, range of motion and will note down the movements that causes pain. Your doctor will feel your spine, note its curvature and alignment, and will for muscle spasm. He will also check your shoulder area while examining neurologically. Your doctor will test your reflexes, muscle strength, other nerve changes, and pain spread.

Sometime your chiropractor may order tests to help diagnose your condition. A CT scan or a magnetic resonance imaging test (an MRI) can show bulging discs and Herniation. If there is nerve damage detected then your doctor may order a special test called electromyography (an EMG) to measure how quickly your nerves respond.

Chiropractors are conservative care doctors. They do not use drugs and surgery methods. If your problem is out of conservative scope, such as neck fracture or an indication of an organic disease then he or she will you to the appropriate medical physician.

A neck adjustment also known as a cervical manipulation usually a procedure applied to the joints of the neck and is done usually by hand. It may also result in the increase of movement of the adjoining muscles. Patients typically notice an improved ability to turn and tilt the head, and a reduction of pain, soreness, and stiffness.
Depending on your personal needs your chiropractor will develop a program of care will include more than one kind of treatment. Apart from manipulation, the treatment plan will also include massage exercises.
